
His Excellency Francisco da Costa Monteiro, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, welcomed a high-level delegation from Terengganu Incorporated Sdn Bhd (Terengganu Inc) and EPIC Berhad of Malaysia, led by Dato’ Burhanuddin Hilmi bin Mohamed, President and Group Chief Executive Officer of Terengganu Inc, and Dr. Ts. Hj. Muhtar bin Suhaili, Group Chief Executive Officer of EPIC Berhad, during their visit to Timor-Leste this week to explore opportunities for cooperation in the petroleum, logistics and energy sectors.
Terengganu Inc is the strategic investment holding company of the Terengganu State Government, while EPIC Berhad, part of the Terengganu Inc Group, is an integrated oil and gas solutions provider with extensive experience in supply base operations, port management, marine services, engineering and maintenance.
During a meeting at the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, the delegation presented its experience and capabilities, particularly in the operation of the Kemaman Supply Base and associated oil and gas logistics and marine services. Minister Monteiro provided an overview of Timor-Leste’s energy sector and highlighted the ongoing development of the Tasi Mane Project, including the Suai Supply Base and associated infrastructure, as well as opportunities for future cooperation and investment.
The delegation subsequently held further discussions with TIMOR GAP, E.P. on potential areas of collaboration, including supply base operations, technical cooperation, training, knowledge sharing and investment opportunities.
With the support and facilitation of Weststar-GAP Aviation, Lda., the delegation also travelled to Suai, where TIMOR GAP provided a briefing on the Tasi Mane Project and its key infrastructure components. The delegation had the opportunity to undertake a flyby of the future Suai Supply Base site and surrounding development area.
The week-long engagement concluded with a signing ceremony on Thursday between TIMOR GAP, E.P. and EPIC Berhad, formalising their intention to further explore areas of cooperation and build on the discussions held throughout the visit.
Minister Monteiro welcomed the growing engagement between Timor-Leste and Malaysian companies and encouraged continued cooperation that can bring international experience, technical expertise and knowledge transfer to support the development of Timor-Leste’s petroleum and energy sector.
