His Excellency, Francisco da Costa Monteiro, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, received a courtesy visit on Friday, November 10th from His Excellency, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain to Timor-Leste and Indonesia, Francisco de Asis Aguilera Aranda.
During the meeting, the Spanish Ambassador congratulated and praised His Excellency, Francisco da Costa Monteiro, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, for holding an important position for the nation of Timor-Leste, particularly in managing the petroleum and mineral sectors. The Ambassador shared Spain’s experiences and conveyed that as a friendly nation, Spain is ready to support Timor-Leste in developing its economy, particularly through the petroleum and mineral sectors.
On July 15, 2022, His Excellency Ambassador Aranda presented his credentials to His Excellency, the President of the Republic, Josรฉ Ramos-Horta, officially beginning his diplomatic mission. This diplomat also serves as the Ambassador of Spain to Indonesia and is responsible for diplomatic relations with ASEAN.
Previously, he has served as the Ambassador of Spain to Jordan and Malaysia. Between 2017 and 2021, he was the Ambassador to Indonesia and has held other important roles in the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
