His Excellency Francisco da Costa Monteiro, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, welcomed a delegation from the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Indonesia for a courtesy meeting. This meeting was focused on exploring potential cooperation and investment opportunities in the fields of renewable energy, oil, gas, and mining.

The delegation was led by His Excellency Abdulla Salem Aldhaheri, the UAE Ambassador to Jakarta. Ambassador Aldhaheri, with his extensive background in the oil and gas sector spanning over two decades, is particularly interested in exploring opportunities in Timor-Leste’s oil, gas, and mining sectors. His objective is to establish links between UAE companies and Timor-Leste, fostering opportunities for collaboration in these areas.

The meeting also included prominent figures such as Merah Eid Alzeezi, Head of Economic Affairs at the UAE Embassy; Tariq Rashid Alsuwaidi, Senior Economic Affairs Specialist; and Fatima Al Suwadi, President Director of Masdar Clean Energy, based in Indonesia.

Masdar, or Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company, established in 2006, is a state-owned enterprise recognized for its work in renewable energy projects. Masdar plays a critical role in the UAE’s strategy to diversify from fossil fuel dependency and to promote environmental sustainability.

The meeting marks a significant step in strengthening the bilateral relations between Timor-Leste and the United Arab Emirates, particularly in the energy sector.
